DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY:

Lansing Capital City Airport You can fly directly to Lansing Capital City Airport. Prices vary and may be less, more or the same as the price of flying into Detroit Metro, so check on-line or with your travel agent. The advantage of arriving in Lansing is the short drive across town to East Lansing, Michigan State University and the hotels.

Driving Instructions from Lansing Airport to MSU As you leave the airport, cross railroad tracks and turn right onto Grand River Avenue. Travel west (0.4 miles) to Waverly Road. Turn left and travel south (3.4 miles) to I-496 East. Travel east (5 miles) to Trowbridge Road (exit 9) and continue east (1.0 miles) to MSU

Detroit Metropolitan Airport Flying into Detroit Metropolitan Airport sometimes offers more convenient flights than flying into Lansing. However you will need to rent a car or take a shuttle to reach Michigan State University. All national car rental agencies are present at Detroit Metro. It is an 80 mile, 1.5 hr drive from Detroit Airport to Michigan State University. Regular bus service is available and transportation can be arranged through Golden Limousine (1-800-300-5151) or Michigan Flyer.

Driving Instructions from Detroit Metro Airport to Kellogg Center Take I-94 West as you leave Detroit Metro Airport. Proceed approximately 3 miles and take Exit 194; merge onto I-275 North. Proceed for approximately 12 miles; follow signs for I-96 West (left lane exit). Proceed for approximately 65 miles west on I-96 to northbound US-127 (exit 106); proceed north on US-127 (3.1 miles) to Trowbridge Road exit. Travel east (0.5 miles) to Harrison Road. Turn left and travel North approximately 1 mile. Kellogg Center is on the right and Brody Complex is on the left.

Campus Parking on Friday afternoon Parking on campus for the Friday afternoon session, will require a campus parking permit until 6:00 PM. On the registration form indicate whether or not you will need a parking permit.

The parking permits can be used in the faculty/staff designated parking lots and the visitor section of the Wharton Center ramp. The recommended lot is the Wharton Center visitor ramp #3 (This is an attended lot where you take a ticket and when you exit give the attendant your parking permit and the ticket. You must enter this lot from Shaw Lane − see the map for detailed directions. Do not enter the Wharton Center ramp from the Wilson Road entrance as you can only exit from there with a gate card.) Other lots near the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building are lot #'s 46 on Wilson Rd. (across the street from BPS), 41 on Shaw Lane (west side of the planetarium), and 51 on Shaw Lane (ramp on the east side of the planetarium − use of a parking permit applies only in the faculty/staff section as the visitor section is metered and is unattended.)
