Help
You can get help from me during office hours and from the Mathematics Learning Center (MLC). You can get complete information at https://www1.math.msu.edu/mlc/. Be sure you checkout the Neighborhoods link to find a satellite location close to you.
Gateway
There are two Gateway Exams given during the semester. The beginning and end dates for each are listed in the Schedule as are the first attempt deadlines. Your performance on each of them will equal 25 points; 5 points if you attempt the exam but never pass it, 15 points if you pass it but after the first attempt deadline, and 25 points if you pass it before the first attempt deadline. Learn about the Gateway Exams at https://www1.math.msu.edu/mlc/gateway.aspx.
Final
The uniform final will be given on Monday, December 9, 2013 at a location to be determined. It will be worth 200 points.
Grades
Use the following scale to convert each test score to a grade.
90--100 | 85--89 | 80--84 | 73--79 | 65--72 | 60--64 | 55--59 | 0--54 |
4.0 | 3.5 | 3.0 | 2.5 | 2.0 | 1.5 | 1.0 | 0.0 |
The same scale will be used for the sum of your quiz scores and the combined WeBWorK and Gateway scores. With the final exam the total points possible is 700. Your grade will be based on your total points using a scale which combines the above scale and the final exam scale.
Computers
No calculators or computers are allowed on tests or on the final exam.
Cell Phones
Turn off your cell phone before coming into the classroom. During the tests, cell phones must be turned off and not on your person. If you bring one, it must be off and under your desk.
Cheating
You may get help on your homework, but the solutions you submit through WeBWorK should be your own. Also the work you do on a test must be yours alone. Don't copy from others. You are on your honor to abide by these regulations.
