It is shown that both of the finite simple groups Ru and HS arecontained in the exceptionell Lie group E7(5). This settles two of thefew remaining questions about the embedding of sporadic groups inexceptionell groups of Lie type. For both groups two proofs are given,one which uses a computer and one which does not.
