When irregular internal supports are involved, one can not resort to the Rayleigh-Ritz method with either multiplier technique or special admissible functions, because there is not any function to present an irregular support (otherwise it is called regular).
The point simulation to irregular support is one of the solution. Some researchers have applied this technique, when they try to solve a problem involving parital internal straight line/curve support. But due to stability problems, they can not consider a big number of point supports, which limits the accuracy of point simulation.
In this paper, we introduced a DSC approach for vibration analysis, proposed by Wei, who is among the authors of this paper. This method shows great stability and controllable accuracy.
In the following are listed some fancy-looking but acturally challenging problems for the Rayleigh-Ritz method. However, it is just that easy for the DSC approach to obtain the solutions (for square plates).
