The Course Syllabus is the
second most important thing to know about after finding out where and when the
class meeting times are.
In addition, we have some require reading:
If that's not enough to work on, I recommend the following for additional
reading:
- Linear Algebra and its applications, G. Strang.
- Linear Algebra with applications, O. Bretscher.
- Linear
Algebra by G. Nagy, Michigan State University. A free (and in
progress) textbook used in the past for this course.
News Information and Handouts:
This is where any handouts will be posted, and therefore why it's probably a good
idea to bookmark this page. Otherwise you can memorize following two search
words: msu, and Applied Linear Algebra (we're currently number one on a google
search with those words).
Important Dates
Every day is important, some more than others. For a list of the more
important dates, consider the following:
Exams
- Exam 1: Tuesday, July 30th.
- Final Exam: Wednesday August 14th, (also the last day of class).
Given the shortened clock, there will be absolutely no “make-up” exams
offered. Do not register if you will be unavailable to take the final (and
midterm) exam.
Homeworks and Quizzes
We will try
to hold a quiz every Tuesday, but pending progress, we may need to change
those dates.
Official dates will be announced in lecture, and posted on this website.

What resources are available for you?
There are a number of resources out there
to aid you in learning the material for this course. Here is a list, in no
particular order, of some resources to think about:
- Your Textbook and your Class notes are an excellent source of information.
You should look at examples in the text as well as examples done in class.
It is often-times helpful to look at other problems in the book!
- Make friends with other students in the class and form study groups.
The best way to learn is by teaching others! And hey, there's no reason
you can't have fun while you study.
- My office hours are a great place to ask about questions or see extra
problems worked out. If you can't make my regularly scheduled office
hours, you're welcome to set up an appointment with me. Please ask at
least a couple of days in advance.
