Stearn-like Forms

The following forms are for division races for the CCP Pinewood Derby using a method along the lines of the Stearns Method:

To use the above forms for a division race, determine the number N of cars (6-9) participating in the division race. Obtain a copy of the appropriate form, the form for "4 rounds with N cars on 3 tracks", and a copy of the "blank form".

Next, assign each of the cars participating in the division race a distinct "Stearn number" from 1-N.

For example, if exactly 8 cars are participating in the division race, the form for "4 rounds with 8 cars on 3 tracks" should be used and the participants should be assigned distinct "Stearn numbers" from 1-8.

Now fill in the blank form by replacing each given "Stearn number" on the appropriate form by the "body number" (i.e. the actual number affixed to the body) of the participating car which has been assigned that "Stearn number".

For example, if a participating car is bearing the number 117, and has been assigned the "Stearn number" 5, replace the number 5 in the appropriate form for "4 rounds with N cars on 3 tracks" with that car's "body number", 117.

Using this procedure, all the cars participating in the CCP Pinewood Derby can bear distinct numbers. In short, the above forms are used as "stencils" or "templates" to create actual forms for division races by filling in blank forms with "body numbers" corresponding to assigned "Stearn numbers".
