Dear Scouts,

I received the email below from Mr. Kleiver this morning. Please read it.

Mr. Kleiver called me this evening to give me some suggestions for meals for the High Adventure Outing and for lunch next Thursday. Here are my vague notes about what he suggested:

(1) Dinty-Moore dinners: 1" deep, 5" x 7" package, similar to frozen microwave (e.g. beef, tuna noodle), prepare by boiling 3 minutes on each end

(2) Macaroni-Cheese (e.g. Kraft): individual packets, microwave, heat with hot water, pour ingredients into cup of hot water, or pour hot water into packet

(3) rehydratable packages, available at Dunham's and Gander Mountain, no dish required

(4) any soup can (caution on weight)

(5) soup in paper board container

(6) soup in package wrapping (cook, pull back foil, let sit), available at Meijer, from 6 or 7 different companies, not fancy, not much selection

Mr. Kleiver says that we want to select high carbohydrate meals to provide plenty of energy.

He also said that the primary method for cooking these meals will be to cook with, or in, boiling water.

He suggested oatmeal packets and cream of wheat as breakfast ideas.

Other suggestions and or clarifications of my cryptic notes are welcome. Please send them along to me and I will forward what seems appropriate to the group.

I will plan on bringing along some 1-2 quart cooking pots from the troop supplies. If there is anything appropriate in the troop kitchens, Ben, perhaps you could bring something from them next Thursday morning.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Scouter John
