Camp Kiwanis Outing Program Plan
![]()
We will need to depart for Camp Kiwanis on Friday, December 15, by 3:30 p.m.. Camp Kiwanis is located approximately four miles east of downtown Mason on M-36 at Diamond Road.
Our Troop Fundraising Specialist Mr. Sainz has agreed to conduct a bottle drive for Troop 316 in the Mason area on Friday, December15. The plan is for Troop 316 to assemble with Mr. Sainz and the Scoutmaster at Camp Kiwanis at 4:00 p.m. and canvass the Mason area from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. We plan to offload our equipment at the Sparrow Building before conducting this bottle drive.
We have reserved the Sparrow Building from 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15 through Sunday, December 17. We are hoping that the Webelos and their parents will join us for the weekend. We will not be available to join the Webelos for any activities during the hours of the bottle drive, but otherwise should be free to join them.
We plan to have a cracker barrel Friday evening, after setting up for the weekend.
We hope that the Webelos will be able to join us for breakfast Saturday morning as a group.
We hope to conduct a service project on Saturday morning. We are considering the possibility of helping people in the Mason area with their snow shoveling.
After the service project, we plan to conduct a couple of demonstrations for our new Scout Aaron and the Webelos. Dan plans to demonstrate proper care, use and sharpening of an ax, knife and saw. Ben plans to demonstrate building a cooking fire. If conditions permit, we plan to go sledding on the grounds at Camp Kiwanis. We plan to conduct a couple of games / contests from Woods Wisdom, one that would fit in with building a fire. We also hope to build a snowball catapult.
