BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
7:00 p.m. - Opening and call to order (led by Senior Patrol Leader)
7:05 p.m. - Roll call and reading of the log (minutes) (led by Troop Scribe)
The Scoutmaster agreed to act as Troop Scribe for this meeting.
Present: SPL Chris Cunningham, ASPL Steven McCarthy, Murphy Patrol Leader Ethan McCarthy, ASM Gary Cunningham, SM John McCarthy
The minutes for the previous meeting on February 24, 2004 were read and accepted with correction.
7:10 p.m. - Patrol Reports (given by Patrol Leaders)
Murphy Patrol Leader Ethan McCarthy summarized the results of the Holt Area Bottle Drive on Saturday, March 20:
  • Total Profits: $189.20
  • Troop Share (40%): $75.72
  • Scouts Share (60%): $113.50
Murphy Patrol Leader Ethan McCarthy summarized the progress of Scout Michael Hannah toward the rank of Tenderfoot:
  • Remaining advancement requirements to fulfill:
  • Tenderfoot 2 : Sleep in a tent you helped pitch.
  • Tenderfoot 11: Identify local poisonous plants.
  • Tenderfoot 13: Demonstrate scout spirit.
7:25 p.m. - Old business (led by SPL)
Scoutmaster John McCarthy summarized the results of the Popcorn Sale on Tuesday, March 9:
  • Sold $111.00 of popcorn and candy.
  • Paid $25.20 to Chief Okemos Council.
  • Profit of $85.80
  • 40% to Troop - $34.32.
  • 60% to participating Scouts' accounts - $51.48
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Steven McCarthy inquired about contacting Webelos Leader Kim Jones. Scoutmaster John McCarthy reported that he had left a phone message with Mrs. Jones but had not yet heard back from Mrs. Jones. He indicated that he would try again to reach Mrs. Jones.
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Steven McCarthy agreed to ask Mrs. Barbara Toman to meet with Troop 272 at the regular troop meeting on Tuesday, April 6 to begin working on the Photography Merit Badge.
7:40 p.m. - Big event/monthly outing planning (led by SPL)
The PLC decided to move the Flyer Distribution for Scouting for Food from Saturday, April 10 to Tuesday, April 13. The PLC decided to begin the distribution at 6:30 p.m. Scoutmaster John McCarthy agreed to pick up Ethan at Olivet Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m..
The PLC agreed to the following schedule for the Scouting for Food Drive on Saturday, April 17:
  • 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon : collect items for food drive
  • 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. : bring items to Holt Community Food Bank
The PLC decided to campout at the McCarthy residence on Friday evening, April 16 before the Bottle Drive on Saturday, April 17, to help Scout Michael Hannah complete his advancement requirements for the rank of Tenderfoot.
The PLC decided to ask the Troop Committee to conduct a Board of Review for the rank of Tenderfoot for Scout Michael Hannah on Saturday, April 17, after the Scouting for Food Drive.
Assistant Scoutmaster Gary Cunningham reported that Senior Patrol Leader Chris Cunningham's grandparents have offered the use of their property in Lake City, Michigan for troop campouts.
The PLC agreed upon the agenda for the Court of Honor on Tuesday, April 20.
7:55 p.m. Troop Meeting Planning (led by SPL)
The PLC planned the troop meetings for April.
8:10 p.m. New Business (led by SPL)
The next PLC meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, 2004.
8:25 p.m. Scoutmaster's Minute (led by Scoutmaster)
The Scoutmaster commended the PLC for their work.
8:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned by the SPL.
