EIGHT-POINT COMPASS QUIZ
 
 
Equipment: Eight small, numbered stakes; one orienteering compass.
 
Procedure: Set the stakes in the ground in a circular pattern at 45 degrees, 90 degrees, 135 degrees, 180 degrees, 225 degrees, 270 degrees, 315 degrees, and 360 degrees. A Scout is given seven compass bearings to follow in order from one stake to another, beginning at the stake at 360 degrees. The Scout follows his given bearings in the given order, from stake to stake, until he makes a mistake and visits the wrong stake.
 
Scoring: Each Scout earns one point for each stake which he visits by correctly following his given bearings.
