Ethan, Michael, and Aaron come
forward and stand behind the table facing the audience. |
Ethan lights the red candle and says: |
"The red of my flag stands for the life
blood of brave men, ready to die or worthily live for this, our
country." |
Michael lights the white candle and says: |
"The white of my flag stands for purity,
cleanness of purpose, thought, word, and deed."

Aaron lights the blue candle and says: |
"The blue of my flag stands for truth and
justice, like the eternal blue of the star-filled
heavens." |
Ethan, Michael, and Aaron salute the U.S. flag. |
Jacob says: |
"My flag -the flag of America, home of
liberty, land of opportunity, where men of all races live in peace and
friendship together". |
Nathan says: |
"Two! Lights!"

Nathan comes forward and says: |
"Please join me in welcoming the members of
our Court of Honor, Troop Committee Chairman Cathy McCarthy, Scoutmaster
John McCarthy, Assistant Scoutmaster Gary Cunningham, and Assistant Scoutmaster Joe Walsh."

Mrs. McCarthy, Dr. McCarthy, Mr. Cunningham, and Mr. Walsh
take their places behind the table. |
Nathan takes his seat. |
Dr. McCarthy says: |
"Please stand and join me in
prayer..." |
Mrs. McCarthy says: |
"This Court of Honor is hereby convened to
recognize the achievements of the Scouts of BSA Troop 272. Please be
seated." |
Dr. McCarthy and Mrs. McCarthy take their
seats. |

Mr. Walsh comes forward and says: |
"We wish to recognize the Scouts of
Troop 272 for achievements which they have made since our last
Court of Honor in October of 2005.
" |
- Mawanjidiwin District Fall Camporee - Troop 272
attended the Mawanjidiwin District Fall Camporee from Friday-Sunday, October 14-16, 2005 with
the Webelos 2 den of Pack 640 of Horizon Elementary School in Holt. The theme for this outing was
Cooking. All the Scouts, Boy Scouts and Webelos, did a great job of preparing and serving meals for their guests, who
came to judge their performance. Everyone also had a good time attending the games and seminars
organized around the theme of cooking.
- Troop Program Planning Conference - With a lot of hard work,
beginning with our Troop Program Planning Conference on Saturday, November 19, 2005,
the Patrol Leaders' Council of Troop 272 did a great job in putting together a plan for 2006.
- Recharter - In December, Olivet Baptist Church renewed its charter
for Troop 272 in the Ojibwas District of the Chief Okemos Council of the
Boy Scouts of America.
- Scout Sunday - On January 15, Troop 272 conducted
its first annual Scout Sunday. That morning, the troop participated in the morning worship service at
Olivet Baptist Church. The Scouts conducted the opening flag ceremony, recited the Scout Oath during
the Children's Message, and read the Scripture passage for Pastor Owen's sermon.

Mr. Cunningham comes forward and says: |
"In November, Ethan McCarthy completed the Family Life merit badge. To reach the
rank of Eagle Scout, Ethan now needs to complete the Environmental
Science Merit Badge and his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project.

Mr. Cunningham says: |
- Charlotte Merit Badge Blitz - On January 21, Scouts
from Troop 272 attended the first of two sessions of the Boy Scout Merit Badge Blitz organized by
Troop 191 of Charlotte, Michigan.
- Eagle Bound Merit Badge Blitz - On February 4, Scouts
from Troop 272 attended the first of two sessions of the Eagle Bound Merit Badge Blitz organized by
Troop 164 of Okemos, Michigan.

Dr. McCarthy comes forward and says: |
"On February 2, Troop 272 participated in the Webelos Crossover Ceremony at
the Blue and Gold Banquet of Pack 640 of Horizon Elementary in Holt. Our new Scouts crossed over to Troop
272 at this ceremony. We welcome these Scouts to our troop." |
The new Scouts come forward. |
Dr. McCarthy welcomes each of the new Scouts by name and shakes their hands. |

ceremony." |
