Text: Linear Algebra with Applications, 8th edition, by Steven J. Leon, Prentice Hall 2010.

We will cover the following sections:

Chapter 1:  Sections 1-5

Chapter 2:  Sections 1-2

Chapter 3:  Sections 1-6

Chapter 4:  Sections 1-3

Chapter 5:  Sections 1-6

Chapter 6:  Sections 1, 3

Attendance: You are expected to attend all meetings of the class, and complete all homework assignments. If you must miss a class, plan to get notes for that day from a classmate.

Evaluation: There will be two hour exams, each worth 100 points, five announced quizzes, each worth 25 points for a total of 100 points (the lowest quiz score will be dropped), and a Final exam worth 200 points. That’s a total of 500 points for the course.

Your total points will be converted into a percentage and your grade will be determined by the following grading scale:

90 – 100 %      4.0                   65 – 72 %        2.0

85 – 89 %        3.5                   60 – 64 %        1.5

79 – 84 %        3.0                   55 – 59 %        1.0

73 – 78 %        2.5                     0 – 54 %        0.0

Note: Missing an exam without an advance valid excuse presented to the Instructor will result in a score of 0 points. No make-ups are given. Commercial travel schedules are not excuses. There will be no make-up or excused Quizzes. Dropping the lowest Quiz score will accommodate those who for some reason must miss a Quiz.

All students are expected to adhere to the University’s policy concerning academic integrity. It is covered in the Spartan Life booklet under General Student Regulations.  According to the handbook, “…no student shall claim or submit the work of another as one’s own.” For more information about this and other scholarship issues, please consult the handbook or visit the following web site:
